Timberwolves vs. Heat Preview
Minnesota enters the season with a new-look backcourt around Edwards and Ball. The Timberwolves added another high-level creator, but the offseason cost them frontcourt depth with Randle and Reid no longer on the roster.
Miami made an even bigger move by adding Antetokounmpo to play alongside Adebayo. That pairing gives the Heat two elite interior players and creates a difficult opening-night assignment for Minnesota's reshaped frontcourt.
Ball and Edwards give Minnesota plenty of shot creation, but this is their first meaningful game together and it comes on the road. Miami has the advantage of playing at home with a frontcourt that should be able to pressure Minnesota on both ends.
That matchup is enough for me to side with the Heat at close to a pick'em price.

Miami's combination of home court, Antetokounmpo and Adebayo gives the Heat the matchup edge. Minnesota has enough perimeter talent to keep the game competitive, but I trust Miami's interior advantage more in the first game of the season.
With the spread only around 1.5 points, the moneyline is my preferred position rather than relying on Miami to win by multiple points.
