UConn vs Boston College Preview

UConn Huskies Betting Preview: Time for Some Positive Regression
UConn has been playing good football this season and is a couple of bad breaks away from being undefeated in 2025.
The defense has locked down Buffalo and FIU in the last two weeks, and the offense really got going last time out behind the passing of quarterback Joe Fagnano.
The senior quarterback completed 78% of his passes for 355 yards and four touchdowns against FIU, and he's thrown 11 touchdowns this season without an interception.
Cam Edwards has been running the ball well for UConn, averaging 6.3 yards per carry on the ground to help pace a Huskies ground attack that averages nearly 200 yards per game.
The ground attack should really test Boston College's defense this week, and UConn could be dangerous in this game if the offensive line can get some push and create holes for Edwards.
Defensively, UConn has given up some yards on the ground against some of the stronger rush offenses it's faced this season, but this is an excellent tackling team, and the coverage unit has been good against the pass.
I would expect the secondary to provide some problems for Boston College's receiver group this week, which could spell trouble for quarterback Dylan Lonergan.

Boston College Eagles Betting Preview: FBS Struggles Define Season
Boston College has been struggling as of late, coming in losers of five straight games while seemingly becoming more and more non-competitive each week.
Back-to-back blowout losses against Pitt and Clemson have capped off a brutal stretch, which also saw the Eagles drop games to Cal and Stanford.
During this stretch, the offense has become increasingly less productive. Boston College has averaged just 220 yards per game and 3.8 yards per play the last two weeks, and I would significantly question where this team is at mentally at this point.
The Eagles are in the midst of their ACC schedule ,and with a trip to Louisville and a home bout with Notre Dame looming, I wonder how focused the Eagles will be on this game against UConn.
The defense has really struggled most of this season against FBS competition. Injuries have decimated the Eagles at all three levels of the defense, causing Boston College to have to go deep into its defensive roster and play players who aren't ready.
Boston College has used 48 players on defense in some capacity this season, and the result has been back-to-back contests surrendering over 500 yards and 40 points.
It's hard to envision the defense stepping up here with so many players out or limited.

UConn vs Boston College Pick, Betting Analysis
The line on this one opened Boston College -1.5 and has hovered around there. UConn is fresh off of a bye week and this regional game will mean much more to it than it will to Boston College. I'm taking UConn on the moneyline.
The UConn ground game should gash Boston College, as the Huskies will use multiple tight ends and get Edwards running into the second level frequently.
The Boston College depth will once again be tested, as this team grades out as the third-worst run-stopping unit in the ACC and ranks just 102nd nationally in Defensive Rush Play Success Rate.
Boston College struggles to get off the field defensively, as each of its last three opponents have converted at least 50% of their third-down attempts. The Eagles have also allowed 13 red zone touchdowns during that stretch.
The defense is out on the field far too frequently, as Boston College is 126th nationally in time of possession. That's not good when you have a young, inexperienced group playing due to a barrage of injuries.
Offensively, Boston College could have some success against a UConn defense that's played better of late but has still given up some yards against superior competition. The key will be the Boston College offensive line being able to pass protect and give Lonergan time to throw.
UConn is 35th nationally in Defensive Havoc, having secured 19 sacks and 39 tackles for loss this season. The secondary is strong and the throwing windows could be tight here.
Boston College is just unplayable in this spot. The losing streak is bad enough. Rumors of a quarterback change and the locker room being in turmoil adds uncertainty to a struggling program.
There will be times to play Boston College this season as a 'dog catching a heavy point load, but this is not one of those spots.
This game will mean a ton to UConn, and I expect the Huskies to have a strong performance and win outright.
Pick: UConn ML +100
