Central Michigan vs Bowling Green Pick

I’m not convinced that Bowling Green is good. The comeback win over Toledo says more about the Rockets than the Flacons — shame on Jason Candle for blowing that 21-point lead in a rivalry game last week.

While Central Michigan lost to lowly Akron two weeks ago, the Chips were off a big rivalry win against Eastern Michigan. It’s not a complete surprise they struggled in a classic letdown spot.

But it’s time for the Chips to circle the wagons if they want to make a bowl game.

And it might be time for a Bowling Green letdown after last week’s emotional, lucky win. The Falcons ran very few successful plays in that game, amassing just 226 yards on 53 plays, averaging 1.7 yards per carry.

Bowling Green’s quarterback situation is uncertain, as Drew Pyne is questionable, and we know that Lucian Anderson III isn’t a good quarterback. Central Michigan should be able to limit the Falcons’ offensive attack, especially since they rank 126th nationally in Explosiveness and 107th in Finishing Drives.

Meanwhile, Central Michigan should control the time of possession by running the ball and shortening the game.

Also, this is a huge get-up spot for Central Michigan, especially after a bye week — the Chips have had two weeks to stew on that lousy loss to Akron, and they’ll be more rested and prepared for this game against Bowling Green.

Pick: Central Michigan ML (+160, bet365)
