Kent State vs Toledo Pick

Kent State looked feisty early in the season in a three-point loss to Buffalo. I think the Bulls are the class of the conference, so that performance has aged nicely. The Golden Flashes also dominated UMass last week, winning 42-6.

Meanwhile, Toledo blew a three-touchdown lead to Bowling Green last week. The Rockets’ second-half drives resulted in six punts, a fumble and an interception. With a veteran quarterback like Tucker Gleason, that shouldn’t happen.

I find it hard to think Toledo will turn around after a gut-wrenching loss last week and cover a four-touchdown spread. Aside from their blowout, 45-3 win over Akron two weeks ago, the Rockets haven’t beaten a MAC opponent by over four scores in 25 games — blowout wins are not Jason Candle’s MO.

Kent State has more fight than ever. The Flashes are getting excellent quarterback play from Dru DeShields (.18 EPA per Play) and an elite return game from Da’Realyst Clark — both those guys can flip this game on its head.

Pick: Kent State +26.5 (-110, bet365)
