Texas State vs Marshall Pick

While Texas State isn’t as elite offensively as last season, the Bobcats still rank in the top 15 nationally in total yards and the top 30 in scoring.

Brad Jackson, Lincoln Pare and Beau Sparks have enough in them to drop 35 points on Marshall’s defense.

But Texas State’s defense hasn’t improved — if anything, it’s regressed. The Bobcats can’t tackle, can’t stop the run, and they’re not forcing any turnovers.

For Marshall, quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson has gone nuclear, averaging 305 total yards per game with 14 touchdowns and zero interceptions over the past three weeks. He’s a gamer with the ability to throw over the defense or tuck it and run.

With Del Rio-Wilson under center, Marshall’s past three results have been a 42-28 win over Middle Tennessee State, a 54-51 loss in double-overtime to Louisiana, and a 48-24 win over Old Dominion.

Marshall is playing in non-stop shootouts, while Texas State has no defense. The Herd have been playing quicker of late, and there’s a chance they’ll have to play even quicker in a trailing game script against a Bobcats offense that can score points in a hurry.

The total for this game should be in the 70s.

Pick: Over 65 (-110, bet365)
