Wisconsin Badgers Betting Preview: Colton Joseph Might Be the Key
Adding Colton Joseph from the transfer portal could be the factor that improves the Wisconsin offense. The Badgers finished 2025 near dead last in numerous offensive categories, including finishing drives, pass explosives and havoc allowed.
Those numbers are uncharacteristic of coordinator Jeff Grimes, who previously had successful stops at BYU, Baylor and Kansas.
Joseph thrived in the Old Dominion offense last season, generating 34 all-purpose touchdowns. The junior logged a massive change in his statistical profile from 2024 to 2025, doubling his big-time throw rate and cutting his turnover-worthy play rate in half.
Grimes has had success with dual-threat quarterbacks, from Zach Wilson to Jalon Daniels.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Betting Preview: On CJ Carr's Back
Notre Dame will look to avenge a missed College Football Playoff spot from last season. Head coach Marcus Freeman will field one of the best defenses in the nation, returning seven of the top eight players in the secondary and five of the top six linebackers.
Freeman was heavy in the portal for a new defensive line, drawing Tionne Gray at the interior position from Oregon and Francis Brewu from Pitt.
With little depth concerns on the Notre Dame defense, quarterback CJ Carr will begin his Heisman campaign with questions about the Irish weapons at the skill positions.
Both Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price have moved on to the NFL, leaving experience as the biggest question mark in the backfield for Notre Dame.
Carr will have the return of his top target, Jordan Faison, and a healthy slot receiver in Jaden Greathouse after an injury-plagued 2025.

Wisconsin vs Notre Dame Pick, Betting Analysis
Notre Dame will look to establish the run with a bevy of inexperienced running backs. Aneyas Williams leads on the depth chart, but has a career 59 carries in two seasons.
Expectations are high for Nolan James Jr., who appeared in four games last year. The Irish could take a number of possessions to create a quality drive against a Wisconsin defense that has one of the best linebacker units in the Big Ten.
Mason Posa and Cooper Catalano combined for 82 tackles last season, while edge Sebastian Cheeks recorded 27 pressures.
No explosives are expected out of Joseph against the Irish defense, particularly with new faces at nearly every position on the offensive line two-deep. The explosives for the Notre Dame side will come out of Carr's arm, as the Wisconsin secondary will carry as many questions as last season.
The Badgers finished 2025 outside the top 100 in coverage grading and pass EPA allowed. Look for a lower-scoring game with a few pass explosives coming from the Notre Dame offense.
