Barner has only cleared this in 1 of 5 games, but I think this is a pretty sneaky buy-low spot. Denver is usually a man-heavy defense, but with Patrick Surtain and Riley Moss out last week they shifted much more toward zone and used two-high/MOFO at a 66% rate, second-highest in the league. Surtain is already out, Moss is questionable and Talanoa Hufanga is out too, so I’m expecting a fairly similar approach. That matters because Barner’s target rate is 6% higher against two-high/MOFO. And his usage with Sam Darnold has been much better than the early-season numbers suggest. With Drew Lock handling most of Weeks 1-2, Barner had just a 9% target rate. In Weeks 3-5 with Darnold, that’s jumped to 22%, and against two-high/MOFO specifically he’s been at 24%, only 2% behind JSN. I’d also expect Denver to devote plenty of attention to JSN, which could leave Barner with even more room underneath. Alex Singleton has been targeted 27 times in coverage, most among LBs, so there’s a pretty obvious matchup path too. Barner is also coming off a season-high 81% routes run rate and has caught just 60% of his targets this year after typically being closer to 76%, so there’s some positive catch-rate regression incoming too. After adjusting for all of that, I have his median closer to 28 yards with around a 59% chance to clear 23.5. And this is one where I think the projection may still be a little too conservative because I was pretty careful with each individual adjustment. The path to upside is better than the final 28 yard median projection probably makes it look.
J.Elliss To Record 1+ Sacks Yes+427
0.43u
Quick note on the market: DK’s 1+ sack requires a full sack, so one 0.5 split sack does NOT cash. FanDuel is +320 for 0.5+ sacks, which I like too, but I’m showing slightly more value on the +427 and am willing to take on the risk of a split sack losing. Elliss ranks 12th in my sack luck “sack lunch” rankings and I have him closer to 1.8 expected sacks despite having 0 actual sacks. He nearly got Herbert twice last week, including one where he was starting to wrap him up before Herbert barely got the ball away out of bounds. This also looks like a good matchup to buy low. Elliss should spend plenty of time across from RT Abraham Lucas, who has been Seattle’s weakest link in pass protection with a team-high 11 pressures allowed and ranks 117th of 145 qualified OL in pressure rate allowed. Darnold also tends to hold the ball and doesn’t scramble much, so he invites pressure even if his sack rate under pressure is around league average. Elliss was more of a rotational player last year, but he’s essentially taken over the Jonathan Cooper role opposite Nik Bonitto, so the playing time is there now too. I have Elliss around a 27% chance to get 1+ sack and roughly 33% to get 0.5+. Normally the split-sack risk would push me toward FanDuel, but 8 of Darnold’s 9 sacks this year have been solo, so I’m taking the extra payout at +427.

I'm always looking to play RB receptions against Seattle, because Mike Macdonald's defense seems more than happy to concede them. Seattle has allowed the 5th most RB receptions this season with over five per game. That was the case last season too, when Seattle allowed the second fewest fantasy points to opposing RBs but the most RB receptions. That included 4+ RB catches in all but three games, with 6+ in 10 of them and 7+ in almost half. That sounds like R.J. Harvey's music to me. Harvey is one of the most obvious tells on the planet right now, with 76% of his snaps on pass plays. He's become Bo Nix's dump-off security blanket, especially as Nix seems reticent to run this season after the injury. That could be especially important against a ferocious pass rush that could have Nix on his heels all night. Harvey didn't have a catch or even a target last week, but that shouldn't be a surprise in a game where Denver finally played with a lead for the first time all season. If you expect Seattle to win or lead here, that puts Denver in passing situations and should mean Harvey catches. Outside of last week's dud, Harvey is averaging 6.7 catches for 44 receiving yards this season with games of 4, 6, and 10 catches. The YPC is terrible, and that's the usual for Seattle defensively too, so I want receptions not yards. Including the playoffs, Harvey has 4+ catches in nine of his last 11 games, with 5+ in almost half. I'll play Harvey over 3.5 receptions at -105 (MGM) and build a small Thursday night escalator with 5+ catches at +203 (Kalshi), 6+ at +375 (Hard Rock), and 8+ at +1500 (Hard Rock). https://www.actionnetwork.com/nfl/seahawks-vs-broncos-picks-props-odds-predictions-thursday-night-football-oct-15

Underdogs have been killing it in primetime, but I really don’t see that continuing here. Our model makes the Seahawks -173 favorites, and I agree that they seem undervalued in this spot. The Broncos have been very unimpressive to me. Their last win over the Chargers was gifted to them, and they sit seventh in our luck rankings. This team is living and dying off screen passes and throws behind the line of scrimmage. Denver ranks 32nd in the NFL in average depth of target (aDOT) at just 5.81 yards. This isn’t a sustainable way to move the ball, especially against a Seattle defense that ranks second in defensive DVOA and second in fewest explosive plays allowed. The Broncos offense ranks 22nd in EPA/pass and 23rd in EPA/rush. This offense simply isn’t very good, and now it faces a Seattle defense that ranks third in success rate, second in EPA/pass, and third in EPA/rush. Seattle also ranks first in coverage grade and third in tackling. Bo Nix will not have a fun night. The Seahawks offense has definitely looked underwhelming, but they are still top 10 in points per game. Denver’s secondary is also banged up heading into tonight’s game, with Pat Surtain II and Talanoa Hufanga ruled out with ankle injuries and Riley Moss questionable with a rib injury. This game will come down to which defense can get stops and set its offense up with short fields, and I give that edge to the Seahawks. The only real advantage Denver has is its special teams. The Seahawks are coming off a tough loss to the 49ers in a game they still had a chance to win despite shooting themselves in the foot all game. This will be a tough environment, but I trust Mike Macdonald to have his team ready following that loss. Give me the Seahawks to win on the road.

There may be some value on the receptions prop for J.K. Dobbins. THE BLITZ is projecting him to record 0.71 receptions, and the oddsmakers are implying 1.37. The model believes there is a 78% chance he records fewer than 1.5 receptions. If you can get the under at -160 or better, there is some great value here. This play is good down to at least -213. THE BLITZ is forecasting 3.51 receptions for AJ Barner. The oddsmakers' implied projection is 2.69 receptions, so I believe there is some value here. If you take the over, you’d be projected to win 64% of the time resulting in a 33% ROI with expected value of $32.52 (based on a $100 wager). This play is good down to at least -124. Love THE BLITZ?
