White Sox vs Twins MLB Betting Preview
I've been betting on Davis Martin a bunch this season, and that is a massive driver for this play.
Over the last 30 days or so, he's emerged as a top-10 starting pitcher. I don't know if he's going to end up remaining there long-term, but he is officially my SP4 over the last 30 days.
The metrics for Martin are silly elite in terms of his breakout this year. On the season, he's pitching to a 2.9 expected FIP (xFIP) and a SIERA right around 3.00. If you isolate just his last 30 days, he has knocked those numbers down even further, closer to a stellar 2.25. He has been pitching like an absolute ace. The raw stuff isn't super explosive—indicated by a 91 Stuff+ rating—but he possesses excellent command and very strong pitchability.
On the other side of the ball, Connor Prielipp is a guy I've talked about a lot this year. His expected indicators are sitting right around a solid 4.00. It looks like he may already be the Twins' second-best starting pitcher aside from Joe Ryan.
Tonight, Prielipp gets an incredibly soft matchup against a White Sox offense that is missing key bats—and will continue to miss them for about another eight weeks. Even though Minnesota is rolling out a left-handed starter here, I project this White Sox unit as one of the worst offenses in baseball.
